Black Alumni Chapter (November 2019)

The Cal Poly Black Alumni Chapter’s mission is to build and strengthen bonds between alumni and students. By providing opportunities for Black alumni, faculty, students, and staff to connect, our diverse network works to ensure that all Cal Poly students have access to the increased educational and career opportunities that are fundamental to making the Cal Poly experience so enriching and unique.

Throughout the year, CPBAC puts on a variety of fun and exciting events, allowing Black alumni and students to cultivate relationships on academic, professional, and interpersonal levels. Some amazing things to look forward to this upcoming year include:

Fall Tailgate

On Nov. 16, The Cal Poly Black Alumni Chapter will host a weekend mixer, tailgate and celebration, concluding with the Mustang football game. More than 70 Mustangs -- alumni and students -- connect at this event, filled with great networking, delicious food and good times! This is a great time to connect and further promote mentoring relationships in a relaxed and festive setting. We hope to see you there!

Black Commencement

Cal Poly’s Black Commencement is an annual celebration of culture and academic achievement which highlights the accomplishments of graduating Cal Poly students. This event provides an opportunity for family, friends, faculty, and staff to honor the academic and extracurricular success of the graduating class. In turn, the graduates are able to thank family, friends, faculty, and staff for the support they’ve given throughout this journey.

Black Legacy Weekend

Black Legacy Weekend is a dynamic event that takes place at Cal Poly every summer and is designed to welcome the University’s Black alumni back to San Luis Obispo and to celebrate their ties to Cal Poly. The weekend features a mix of formal networking and development events as well as a variety of entertainment and festive occasions. It is an incredible opportunity for alumni to reconnect with old friendships, make new ones, and have an all-around great time!
