The Cal Poly Black Alumni Chapter’s (CPBAC) mission is to build and strengthen bonds between alumni and students. By providing opportunities for Black alumni, faculty, students, and staff to connect, our diverse network works to ensure that all Cal Poly students have access to the increased educational and career opportunities that are fundamental to making the Cal Poly experience so enriching and unique.
Though in the interest of the health and safety of our members and students, we have currently put in-person events on hold, the Black Alumni Chapter is still committed to our work of establishing and strengthening our bonds with Cal Poly students, staff, and faculty. This year we have increased hosting online community gatherings to connect members and students from coast to coast.
Throughout the year, CPBAC puts on various fun and exciting events, allowing Black alumni and students to cultivate relationships on academic, professional, and interpersonal levels. We are currently working towards ensuring that, once we feel it is safe to do so, we can hit the ground running and continue to put on the events – such as Black Commencement and Black Legacy Weekend – that we all look forward to.
While we could not celebrate Black Commencement with the recent graduates this year, CPBAC continued its tradition of annually gifts custom padfolios to Black Commencement participants. And CPBAC is excited to report that it has also recently awarded a total of $2,000.00 ($500.00 each) to the following Cal Poly Student Organizations: Black Academic Excellence Center, Black Student Union, MultiCultral Center, and the National Society of Black Engineers.
With your help, we hope to continue to host and further refine our programming. Your donation will help bolster a community that works to ensure the success and growth of future Mustangs! Thank you!
