Support students from the Society of Civil Engineers as they attend the Pacific Southwest Conference 2022 hosted at the University of California San Diego!
The Society of Civil Engineers is a student-led organization that aims to give civil engineering a social, professional, and hands-on academic experience beyond the classroom. Our club has been active since 1980, and we continue to maintain our successful endeavors each year. We have two astounding project teams, Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge, that welcome anyone who is looking for hands-on experience. These two technical project teams, in addition to others go on to compete in the Pacific Southwest Conference.
Historically, the Pacific Southwest Conference is the largest and most rewarding event of the year for our student club with about 100 Cal Poly students participating. In this four-day conference, students gather from a dozen universities across Southern California. Student-led teams apply their technical knowledge in 18 separate competitions such as design/build, environmental design, concrete-canoe, and steel bridge. Thanks to all our members and the support from our families, alumni, faculty, and companies across the country, we have placed within the top 3 over the last 33 years. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, PSWC has been on a two-year hiatus from being held in-person. For this reason, PWSC 2022 is significant to us to restore the passion for civil/environmental engineering, promote learning, and foster professional development.
