Help the Cal Poly Quarter Scale Tractor Team get a new Hybrid Transmission System!

The Quarter Scale Tractor Team provides hands-on opportunities in designing and building quarter scale tractors (31 hp) for an international competition organized by the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). There are more than twenty active students in the club and half of them travel to the competition. Every year, the team designs and builds a fully functional new tractor before the competition in Illinois. Last year, Cal Poly ranked in the top five teams in the tractor performance (durability, maneuverability, and pull) category. 

Other teams are using hybrid/hydrostat transmission systems, and our team wants to stay competitive by upgrading the transmission system to a hybrid transmission system. We want to adopt a Prius transmission system and a battery (or similar) for the future tractor transmission system. The overall system would cost approximately $10,000.

This funding will provide students with an opportunity for more hands-on activities and help improve tractor performance. In addition, more students can get involved by creating an X-team for the competition. The X-team competes with the previous tractor with little modification. Overall, this will allow the team to stay ahead in the competition by adopting the new system for the tractors. We ask that alumni, friends, and family members support us in our efforts to stay competitive in the competition.
