CAFES Multicultural Agriculture Program

The Multicultural Agricultural Program (MAP) is the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences’ center for diversity, equity, & inclusion programming, community building, and student connection. MAP directly supports multiple strategic priorities at Cal Poly that aim to increase resources for students with traditionally lower retention and graduation rates including underrepresented minorities, first-generation, low-income, and transfer students.

MAP has served as a key resource since the 1980s. Your contribution to the MAP Center will help us re-open and provide intentional programming for our students with the goal of increasing student retention, grad rates, and a sense of belonging in our college. Our goal is to facilitate academic and career workshops, cultural events, and opportunities for students to connect with advisors and faculty. We would also like to update our space to make it more welcoming for students by displaying student art, providing free printing, giving access to a microwave and refrigerator, and handing out free scantrons, bluebooks, and snacks during midterms and finals. Your donation will also help us establish a MAP Peer Mentoring Program to connect struggling students with their peers, with the goal of signing up 200 students by Spring 2025.

By contributing to the MAP Center, you will be a part of our efforts to support and retain our current underrepresented student population which will in turn help us attract more diverse students to Cal Poly!
