Alpha Kappa Psi Charity Ball

Cal Poly's Alpha Kappa Psi chapter is hosting a Charity Ball, and we need your help putting on this amazing event! Your generous donation will go towards the expenses of hosting our annual Charity Ball, where 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales are donated to the SLO Food Bank to fight food insecurity.

Across San Luis Obispo County, more than 23,000 people, including 4,800 children, struggle with obtaining enough food to establish and maintain a healthy life. At Cal Poly, about 39% of students experience food insecurity at some point in their college career. 

To generate support for this cause, the brothers of Alpha Kappa Psi at Cal Poly—a premier professional co-ed Business fraternity—are hosting a Charity Ball on May 11th: a campus-wide formal gala that aims to bring awareness about hunger and food insecurity in the SLO community. In partnership with SLO Food Bank, this event will donate 100% of the proceeds from ticket sales to help SLO Food Bank alleviate hunger for the roughly 35,000 people in SLO County that they serve every month! 

We aim for our Charity Ball to be a collective effort of individuals at Cal Poly by collaborating with student talent. At the event, we plan to not only provide a platform for student performances through music and dance, but we also want to sponsor and showcase student-created artwork, structures, and interactive exhibits that embody our chosen cause. 

Past years’ Charity Balls have raised $5,300 and $8,000 respectively for water sanitation and access, and we hope to match, if not exceed, our past success with a cause we feel so strongly about! Help us host this special night to celebrate the incredible positive community impact we can make together and declare a shared values statement with SLO Food Bank: “Every human being has the right to nutritious food.”
