Our Crowdfunding Groups
The Cal Poly Ballroom DanceSport Team stands as the premier competitive partner dancing team at Cal Poly, dedicated to mastering both American and International ballroom styles year-round. With a dedicated roster of approximately 22 members, we participate in 2-3 competitions each quarter and proudly host one of the largest collegiate ballroom events on the West Coast: Mustang Ball. Beyond competitions, we organize a variety of social events throughout the year, from elegant formal dances to casual bonfires and game nights, fostering a vibrant community and offering a range of opportunities for members to connect and enjoy dancing together.
Our primary challenge is covering the costs associated with competitions, including flights, gas, hotels, food, and registration fees. To ensure that all our team members can benefit from these experiences, we aim to subsidize expenses like hotel and travel fees. Last year, our team competed in six competitions, showcasing our skills against some of the top collegiate dancers from the West Coast, and forging lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.
Key achievements from last year include attending 8 different competitions across California and Nevada, competing against schools across the west coast, and hosting Mustang Ball, where we saw an impressive 232 competitors and 1,700 competitive entries across 136 different events in our very own Chumash Auditorium.
