Cal Poly Fencing Club

The Cal Poly Fencing Club’s goal is to provide students with access to sport fencing, regardless of experience. The club provides coaching and equipment, so students can try fencing for the first time without needing to pay for expensive gear and lessons. Because of this, many members joined the club as first time fencers, and have since gone to serve as club officers, win medals at tournaments, and continue fencing after graduation.    

We offer coaching for all levels of experience across all three blades, participate in an intercollegiate league for tournaments, and host our own Cal Poly tournament every year. Entry fees for tournaments are paid out of pocket by each fencer, but an immediate goal of the club is to cover these fees to encourage participation. Between purchasing and maintaining gear, hosting a tournament, and covering tournament fees, costs to the club can become quite high over time. Despite this, we try to keep the barrier for entry as low as possible for new students and have proudly maintained one of the lowest quarterly dues in Club Sports for years. Any donations to the club directly contribute to our mission as a low-cost entry point to sport fencing.
