For the first time in its history, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo has been selected to host the 22nd Annual Afrikan Black Coalition (ABC) Conference! As one of the largest convenings of college students in the state of California, the 2025 Afrikan Black Coalition Conference is anticipated to bring together 600-800 participants from across California’s Education Systems.
This weekend-long affair is dedicated to providing students with extensive opportunities for personal, cultural, and professional development. Through a combination of speakers, workshops, community building, and community service activities, our attendees will undergo a transformative experience.
Here what one student had to say about their experience:
“Coming from my first ABC last year, I had a foundation laid from Gaskin’s last workshop on generational wealth. I was able to come to today’s event with a deeper understanding throughout my own circumstances and experiences with credit, investing, and handling money. I learned some new investment strategies, and I got to hear about black billionaires and new methods of taking out loans for buying property. Along with that, there were some very insightful back-and-forths during the many moments of Q&A. I’m glad I got the opportunity to ask questions and listen to the thoughts of my peers and fellow lovely Black intellectuals."
This year’s conference will feature opportunities for students to network with community partners, participate in career and graduate school preparation sessions, and offer practical strategies centered around health and wellness. Thus, as we prepare to host this impactful event, highlighting our beloved Cal Poly and the city of San Luis Obispo, we humbly ask for your help. We are raising funds to cover event costs, provide conference materials, and ensure access to resources that will enhance the experience for all participants.
Your support will not only help us deliver a successful and impactful event but will also highlight Cal Poly's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The funds raised will directly contribute to offsetting expenses associated with securing facilitators, speakers, services and meals for participants.
