Help Design Build Fly Compete in Texas this Spring!

Cal Poly Design Build Fly (DBF) is a competitive aerospace engineering club where students apply their skills outside the classroom to design, build, and fly innovative remote-controlled aircraft. The SAE Aero Design competition challenges thousands of students worldwide to apply research, testing, and analytical skills while developing teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.

After many years of competing in the AIAA Design Build Fly competition, our team embraced a new challenge: SAE Aero Design West. In 2023, we designed and built a plane nearly twice as large as any we had built before, with a 55 lb takeoff weight and power limiter. Competing against teams from around the world, we placed 18th overall in only our third year at this competition. With this foundation, we are more motivated than ever to improve, innovate, and climb the ranks in the upcoming cycle.

Your donation will make it possible for Cal Poly DBF to send 10-15 students to Fort Worth, Texas, to represent Cal Poly, compete at a high level, and gain invaluable hands-on experience. With about 60 active members, the team relies on the generous support of alumni, industry partners, and friends to continue building aircraft that push the boundaries of design.
