Help Cal Poly Human-Powered Vehicles Set a Land Speed Record!
Cal Poly HPV is on a mission to set a collegiate land speed record, and we need your help to do it!
At Cal Poly Human-Powered Vehicles, we design, build, and race vehicles for competitions every year. We take our vehicles across the country to compete against other schools as well as professional HPV groups. Cal Poly HPV gives students invaluable experience applying what they learn in classrooms to real world scenarios and prepares them for careers in a variety of fields. Students learn vehicle dynamics and chassis design, fabrication, precision manufacturing, aerodynamic and mechanical analysis, and composite systems design and manufacturing.
We are the oldest team in the world of any type, collegiate or professional, that has consistently designed, built, and raced fully-faired human-powered vehicles. The organization was founded in 1977, and has been breaking records and topping podiums ever since. Today’s students continue to push the team forward with the same drive for innovation and progress that the team has valued for decades.
This year, we’ll start by making improvements to last year’s bike, testing it, and analyzing its performance. We’re also excited to start researching, designing, and manufacturing a new carbon-framed bike, in which we hope to set a new collegiate land speed record. Donations for this year will help us purchase build materials and fund our travel to the annual competition in Battle Mountain, Nevada. We greatly appreciate the support we receive from our generous friends, families, alumni, and industry partners, no matter the amount.
Thank you for your support of Cal Poly Human-Powered Vehicles!

Bike Bits
Anyone who has worked on a build project understands how the little bits pile up. Nuts and bolts, hand tools, and small parts are essential for the vehicle build.
$75
Tank of Gas
We bring several cars to competition, including a van to haul our vehicle. Gas isn't cheap, so donations help drastically with travel expenses.
$250
Dinner for the Team
Help feed the team a few meals! Engineers (and cyclists) get hungry.
$500
Lodging for the Team
The competition at Battle Mountain requires us to stay for 6-7 days. Your gift will help us make sure the team gets a good night's sleep.

Vehicle Materials
Some of our biggest expenses are bike materials. Help us buy steel, carbon fiber, fiberglass, foam, epoxy, and much more!
