Send Cal Poly’s Bach Week on a Performance tour of Germany!
Help Bach Week students perform the music of Johann Sebastian Bach in the very churches where his music first came to life!
Cal Poly Bach Week is an annual festival that brings together students of all majors, Cal Poly music faculty and professional specialists in Baroque music. Together, they present collaborative performances of Johann Sebastian Bach’s most notable choral-orchestral music, such as his Mass in B Minor and the St. John Passion. Every year, students learn from experts in their field the way musicians have learned for centuries: by rehearsing and performing along side them.
In March, 2027, the combined ensemble will visit the most important places in Bach’s life and perform in the same churches he did. They will visit Bach museums and explore the culture of central Germany, visiting his birthplace, Eisenach, as well Arnstadt, Köthen, Weimar, the Wartburg Castle (where Martin Luther translated the New Testament into German), and of course, Leipzig, where Bach served as Cantor for many years.
Our goal is to bring forty students to Germany. Your donation will reduce the cost each student must pay for this performance tour, ensuring that any Bach Week student who wishes to go will be able to. Thank you for supporting our student musicians!
