Description

Help the Cal Poly Golf Engineering Club Build the Future of Golf

Cal Poly Golf Engineering Club (CPGE) began in fall 2025 with a question: Can a group of college students design a tour-quality golf club? Since then, we’ve grown to more than 40 active members and built eight fully assembled putter prototypes. Our members take projects from computer-aided design through machining, assembly and testing — putting Cal Poly’s Learn by Doing philosophy into practice.

Building a golf club takes more than a good design. Students need raw metal, specialized cutting tools and equipment to evaluate how their ideas perform. As a young club, we’ve relied entirely on member fundraising to cover these costs. Your support will help more students turn their designs into working prototypes and gain hands-on engineering experience.

This campaign will support materials and machining tools for our next putters, a new putter-testing robot, higher video production quality and research and development for our first iron designs.

“CPGE was founded on the belief that engineering students united by a love of golf and a passion for learning have what it takes to push the limits of golf design and innovation. Guided by Cal Poly’s Learn by Doing philosophy, we turn that passion into precision-engineered putters and the equipment to test them, with the ultimate goal of growing the game so everyone can feel at home on the golf course”

- Jonathan Donohue, President & Founder.

Help us build the next generation of golf clubs and develop the engineers behind them. Every gift supports students learning to design, manufacture, test and improve something they’re proud to put in a golfer’s hands.

Thank you for your support of the Cal Poly Golf Engineering Club!
